Building and Deploying Smart Clients in the Enterprise |
 |
|
August 29th, 2006 - Keith rocked it!
Keith Elder did a great job teaching us the practical and best practices approach to building and deploying Smart Clients in the Enterprise. Keith started with a brief intro to Smart Clients, and then covered everything from the ground up starting with why you should consider leveraging Smart Clients more in the Enterprise to how to get started structuring a three tiered architecture for your solution. He covered how to deploy your application using ClickOnce with signed certificates and how to provide automatic updates through ClickOnce.

Buy this book (if you haven't won it yet). It's basically covering several of the same patterns in the Gang of Four's (GoF) Design Patterns book, but replaces the SmallTalk and C examples with java (same syntax as C#), and it's a lot more fun to read (is that blasphemy?).

"This book is an absolute must-read for all .NET developers. It gives clear do and don't guidance on how to design class libraries for .NET." --Jeffrey Richter, author, trainer and .net genius
